OASIS: Observational Acromegaly Study
OASIS is an observational, international study of the treatment of Acromegaly. The study is conducted in 23 countries and 140 sites around the world, and has enrolled 867 patients until August 2007. Each patient is followed up to 12 months, which leads to the end of the study in August 2008.
Aim of OASIS
The aim of the OASIS study is to investigate, in a large population of recently diagnosed patients with acromegaly, the use and impact of different treatment regimens (e.g. Surgery, somatostatin analogues, radiation) on the clinical course of their disease. In this open label, international, multi-center, longitudinal, observational study, the treatment (surgery, medical therapy, radiation) is decided by the investigator according to local clinical practice in her/his center. Data are collected on Palm Tungsten C devices with pre-installed memory cards, and are transferred twice a year into a central database.
